L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel
ben Hadassa &
Israel Ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:
1. It is the minhag
(custom) to do Hatarat Nedarim (the process of Exemption of Vows) on Erev Rosh
HaShanah (the Hebrew calendar-day before Rosh HaShanah) and Erev Yom Kippur.
From The Rambam:
2. If a person violated any Mitzvah from the Torah, whether
positive or negative, mistakenly or intentionally, needs to do Vidui when doing Tshuva (repentance). Vidui is a positive Mitzvah that
includes pounding on one’s chest and saying: “Chatati aviti pashati lephanecha ve asiti…” which means: I have
sinned (either) intentionally, purposely, or mistakenly before you and I did
___ and ___ and I am embarrassed of my actions and forever shall not return to
repeat them.
