L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel
ben Hadassa &
Israel Ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:
1. There are those who have the minhag (custom) to fast Erev Rosh HaShanah (the day before Rosh
HaShanah, meaning from dawn to sunset before the first meal of Rosh HaShanah).
If they plan on fasting and eating before dawn, they may eat ONLY if they did
not sleep the entire night. However, if he/she wants to eat before dawn, then
they need to make a condition that he/she is planning on waking up before dawn
to eat.
2. The Tzibbur doesn’t appoint someone to blow the Shofar on
Erev Rosh HaShanah, especially in a Bet Knesset (shul). However, if someone
needs to continue practicing the act of blowing the Shofar, he should do it in
a closed room.
