CLD #374

For the Ilui Nishmat of Avraham ben Ester & the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara. Also for SHALOM in Eretz Yisrael!
Because of the fact that Rosh HaShanah is less than 3 weeks away (yes, shocking), let’s talk about honey.
The way Hashem runs the world is incredible, just the process that takes Bees to make honey alone is unbelievable. The way someone gets to know Hashem and really feels His presence is from looking around and finding out more and more about the endless amounts of wisdom throughout the entire globe.
Archealogists even found Honey in the Egyptian pyramids from ancient Egypt and said it tasted delicious. Honey can last thousands of years!
However there is a time when the honey becomes ‘spoiled,’ or scientifically speaking: crystallized. Crystallization of Honey occurs when you leave the honey jar open and the honey absorbs the air, creating a paste from yeast that just becomes inedible.
The famous CLD question: what does this teach us???
We all think we can last forever, whether its because we learned a page of Gemara and think we are Gemara geniuses all of a sudden of whether we did a Mitzvah of helping our parents or even just going to the Mikveh. We constantly need to understand that everyday is a NEW WORLD! Rav Amos Lubin once brought Pirkei Avot: Ezehu Chacham? HaRoeh Et HaNolad: Who is the smart one? The one who sees the born (meaning the one who sees the end result). But Rav Amos said more than that: its one who understands that every second is a new creation of the world. Meaning from the start of reading this CLD, Hashem re-created the world maybe 40 or 50 times!
To think like this is very difficult, because not only is it hard to understand how much we do not know Hashem, but also thinking this way causes one to have more fear of Heaven, because he/she understands that every second is a new opportunity to do Avodat Hashem. With this understood, Yetzer Hara comes in and tries to prevent us to think this way!
Therefore we constantly need to push ourselves to be dependent on Hashem, because we NEVER know when the next Nisayon in Mitzvot will come and we NEVER know if we will succeed or fall (even though we can overcome it).
Just like to prevent the Crystallization of Honey we need to close its jar and store it in a safe place, so too we need to understand: the only way to keep ourselves fresh and edible spiritually is to safeguard our Neshamot inside us! This is only true if we follow in the ways of Hashem, which is the happiest life anyway. Smile, cuz G-d loves you.

Yom Kippur is in 27 days.
Rosh HaShanah is in 17 days.
Selichot has already BEGUN.
SHAVUA TOV!
