VIDEO OF THE WEEK!

Maybe if speaking about Hashem and writing about Hashem's power will not shake us up to do Tshuva, this will...(obviously BH also :D)

CLD #363

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.
The opportunity and zchut to open our hearts with the Tefillah of Selichot begins tonight after Chatzot (12:56am). Rav Yoshiyahu Pinto’s book ‘Chizuk and Hithorerrut’ (Inspiration and Awakening) is filled with Drashot and passages of Chizuk specifically for Chodesh Elul and Tishrei.
There is a beautiful Mashal (parable) that he brings down in the name of the Holy Ba’al Shem Tov that explains the power of Rosh Chodesh Elul. There was once a King who rode in his carriage around the city boundaries. A simple beggar took a rock and threw it at the carriage. The servants and guards of the King quickly stopped the carriage and ran after the beggar to sentence him to death. The King quickly stopped them and explained that the beggar is just a simple man that doesn’t have a clue what the kingdom is.
The King decided to take the beggar into the kingdom for a couple days so the beggar alone will come to realize what he did. After a short time the beggar immediately came to the realization that he did a horrible act. After the king saw the sorrow and sadness in the beggar’s heart, the king had huge compassion and mercy on the beggar and brought him into the kingdom to become one of the counsel men closest to the king.
The same thing is with Chodesh Elul! It is known that Hashem comes out to the field to pull us closer to Him. Until Chodesh Elul is it very difficult to get closer to Hashem and do Tshuva, but NOW, EVEN THIS SECOND, one can accept on him/herself to get closer to Hashem and TRY to do all the Mitzvot and that person (if it is really from the depth of one’s heart) will see that EVERYTHING he/she does will be so smooth and successful.
Selichot is HERE. Tshuva is NOW. It is all up to you.
Yom Kippur is in 38 days.
Rosh HaShanah is in 28 days.
Selichot begins tonight.
Are you Ready?

L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel ben Hadassa & Israel Ben Rivka.
Yalkut Yosef: SELICHOT BEGIN AFTER CHATZOT (12:56am) TONIGHT…GET READY!
1. The minhag (custom) is to say “VaYa’avor” in a whisper and then saying out loud from “Hashem Hashem El Rachum VeChanun” and these people have on who to depend on (meaning that their minhag is legitimate). When saying Hashem Hashem in the Vidui one should hesitate between saying both “Hashem’s.” Whoever does not hesitate between the first and second Hashem’s has a large punishment waiting for him.

2. When saying ‘Hashem Hashem’ with the hesitation between one should bow down a little bit without standing on his toes like one does during Kdusha, rather one should stand flat on his feet and have kavana (intention) on understanding the meaning of the Shlosh Esreh Midot (13 attributes of Hashem).

PIC OF THE WEEK!

If Hashem gave us the intelligence to build such a large and almost indestructible structure that is used contasntly, how much more so in the spiritual world can we build by saying a SINGLE Perek of Tehillim or saying the Bracha on strapping Tefillin or even a girl crying to Hashem on her difficulty to change to begin wearing clothing that is more modest?!

CLD #362

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.
Thank G-d, because none of us know what G-d’s plans are, today was the first day of classes at Baruch College ‘HaKdosha.’ In Macroeconomics the professor, Dr. Malca, said as a joke something that really shook me up, especially because today is Rosh Chodesh Elul. He explained opportunity cost (for you following up on CLDs for months now, you can look in the past CLDs to see I have already spoke about this issue once before). Opportunity Cost is a term used in Economics to explain what someone loses when doing something else, for example going to college has an opportunity cost of working during those four years and receiving a full time job salary.
He explained that opportunity cost is relevant based on each person, meaning if someone is emotionally attached to a certain lifestyle he/she will do anything for that, no matter how much money someone gives them to change. He set as an example if someone offered a college student today $300,000 to work instead of going to college, then that student might leave college. However, if the condition was to work in Siberia instead of Jerusalem, then that person might decide differently. However, if someone is desperate and in need, they will do that job in Siberia. But what will they think to themselves in Siberia? I am getting $300,000 in 12 months. Then in 3 months, “I am getting $300,000 in 9 months.” And on and on until the check is given to the worker.
Judaism is exactly like this. However, it is all based on Emunah. When someone lives a life of true Yahadut he is above this example of $300,000. A real Jew does Mitzvot and follows in the way of Hashem based on the Torah HaKdosha because Hashem told him/her to. That’s it. There is no need to do Mitzvot and follow in the steps of Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov when one is doing it just for a reward (Olam Haba). However, those who are Ba’alei Tshuva who are slowly getting stronger in Avodat Hashem can go on the path of doing things for reward because eventually they will reach a point where they are doing it just because it is commanded upon them.
Since it is Elul, we need to understand we also get up (BH Thursday night until Yom Kippur) to say Selichot because Hashem tells us to and not because it will make our Rosh HaShanah better and more spiritual. Not because the father of the girl you want to date is at the Shul you say Selichot at or because there is a great breakfast after Tefillah! We need to understand there is a huge purpose for everything we do and we need to push ourselves in such a time where it is so EASY Lachzor B’Tshuva.

Selichot is in 2 days.
Rosh HaShanah is in 29 days.
Yom Kippur is in 39 days.
Are you ready?

L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel ben Hadassa & Israel Ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:
SELICHOT IS IN 2 DAYS. ARE YOU READY?
1. The individual cannot say Shlosh Esreh Midot of the Pasuk “VaYa’avor” in Tefillah because it is considered as a holy saying, like Kdusha and Kaddish, and one cannot say these sayings unless with a minyan (10 people). However if the individual comes to say this Pasuk with the Ta’amei HaMikrah (Torah reading symbols) then he can say the Shlosh Esreh Midot without finishing the pasuk (because one would think he needs to read the 13 Midot because they are written in Psukim like Torah Reading but it is not true). The individual can also say ‘El Melech Yoshev Al Kiseh…’ alone (the paragraph before VaYa’avor).

2. The parts of Selichot that are written in Aramaic cannot be said by the individual, rather only with a minyan. Malachei HaSharet (angels) do not understand Aramaic, therefore the individual should not say it unless a minyan is present. When there is a minyan the Shchina is present (Divine presence) therefore Aramaic can be said.

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.

CHODESH TOV!
40 Days until Yom Kippur.
30 Days until Rosh HaShanah.
2 Days until Selichot.
Are you Ready?

What is so special about Rosh Chodesh Elul anyway?
“Ani LeDodi VeDodi Li” I am for Hashem and Hashem is for me, meaning just like I act with Hashem in my actions throughout the year (ESPECIALLY DURING CHODESH ELUL) Hashem acts with me. This phrase also has an acronym that spells out Elul in Hebrew. The last letters of each word also makes up the value of 40, which is a sign of 40 days to prepare for Yom Kippur, which is the day of the final signatures confirming the verdict given on judgment day (Rosh HaShanah) for the entire world.
Throughout the next 40 days we try to begin doing Cheshbon Nefesh and realizing how we behave, what we need to fix, and most importantly how we can improve. Chodesh Elul is also a time that is given from Shamayim for TSHUVA (repentance). From RIGHT NOW until Yom Kippur we are given a second chance after a second chance to get closer to Hashem and fulfill what we need to do in this world.
So what do we need to do? There is an endless amount of tips and guidelines that one should follow for Rosh Chodesh Elul, but let’s focus on main things:

1.              To set a certain goal for oneself during these 40 days and to ask more of oneself Spiritually. For example, if I don’t say Asher Yatzar after using the restroom, I begin saying it. Trying to come on time to Tefillah (or even 5 minutes before Minyan begins), saying Birkat HaMazon with Kavanah, Teaching someone 2 Halachot everyday, adding a couple more minutes to your Time set for Torah learning, etc.

2.              Before one goes to sleep to think about what he/she did today and try to fix two things for tomorrow. For example, I realized today when I walked out of the subway, I bumped into someone and didn’t say sorry. Or maybe I forgot to call my parents today and they might be worried about me. Or I completely didn’t realize someone was behind me when I closed the door in their face, etc.

3.              SELICHOT and the Avodat Hashem (work on oneself) that one does throughout Elul is the foundation of all success to be ready for Judgment Day on Rosh Hashana, where Hashem looks at everything from sheep to rock to a baby to a chunk of diamond in the African jungle and sets its future. Selichot is a time of connecting to one’s deepest places in the heart and telling Hashem how he/she wants to improve. The learning of Selichot is even more important because one needs to understand what is coming out of their mouths.

The holy books of Torah on Chodesh Elul explain that throughout the year there are so many obstacles that separate one’s heart to open up to Hashem and pray properly. In Elul Hashem grabs these obstacles and puts them on the side to help the person EVEN MORE to come back to the proper mindset of Avodat Hashem and getting closer to Him. Try to understand that Hashem is throwing at us gold all the time and we just fail to pick it up, Elul is gold (even more than gold) and we need to realize that every hour of Elul is strength for the entire year to come.

NOW is the time to do Tshuva, this is it, this is now, this is you.

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel ben Hadassa & Israel Ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:

1. Every person who wakes up early for Selichot should put effort not to doze off or nap during Tefillah, specifically during Kriyat Shma, because when one is wearing Tefillin he may not let his mind wander away from Kdusha and Tahara (holiness and spiritual cleansiness). Whoever does not do this loses his reward from his failure and it is better to pray normally than say Selichot before Shacharit (say Selichot during the day or after Chatzot HaLayla). It is a big issue in Avodat Hashem to be consistent with the foundation and to add on with Chassidut.

2. The main point of Selichot is to say it with big intention, serenity, slowly, and specifically in regards to Shlosh Esreh Middot (Tachanoon…VaYa’avor). Therefore, whoever is accustomed to saying Selichot with speed is not doing Selichot nicely, and needs to cancel this custom immediately. One who comes to Bet Knesset to raise their voice to Hashem the same way he sings to Hashem on Shabbat Kodesh or at a Simcha by yelling and shouting has a path set to Gehinom. Selichot is to review one’s actions, do Tshuva, to add more Ma’asim Tovim (good actions) and overall Mitzvot in one’s daily routine! These next 40 days are set in the world for Tshuva because it is easier to do Tshuva. During Chodesh Elul, whoever writes a letter to his friend should write on top: For a Shana Tova Techatevu and Techatemu, (to wish upon his friend a year where he is written and signed in the Book of Life).

CLD #360

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.

The Western world way of life pushes us to contsantly be moving to a state of ZERO relaxation and constant pressure (besides for Shabbat). We never really get a sense of complete disconnection from whatever troubles our minds. (Maybe) Hashem wanted us to have this pause on life, a healthy pause to wash our sense of Nefesh and just have a physical and mental break.
Irene is here for a reason (even though there is for sure many more than just this). Hashem is telling us: TAKE THIS TIME AND USE IT POSITIVELY! Take advantage of what I give you!
For hours people were lined up outside convenience stores to buy cables, electric cords, water, canned food, etc. People thought the world was going to end and just horrible after horrible things were going to happen. The Media blew up this entire thing and said: Rely on the Government, the National Guard soliders will protect you, the police will be at your side, the firefighters, and all the others man power that the U.S. has. WEDDINGS THAT WERE PLANNED FOR MONTHS WERE CANCELED, PEOPLE EVACUATED THEIR HOMES, AND ABSOLUTE TERROR RESULTED FROM ALL THE MEDIA MAKING THIS THE BIGGEST DEAL. But only the Jew can rely on Hashem and say: I know everything will be fine and even if something in my eyes looks bad, everything is just good for me (with a huge smile). Look outside right now and see how calm the skies are, besides for wind this morning was like a stronger than normal rainstorm. Our Emunah is being tested and we don't even realize it!
We need to just take deep breaths and learn to see how quickly Hashem can spin this world into chaos, where people have no choice but to rely on Him! We need to act like children once more and open our hearts and thoughts to Hashem and realize He is in control of everything and we are COMPLETELY DEPENDENT UPON HIM just like a child.

Take a break and ask yourself: "Why did Hashem put me in this world?"
Hurricane Irene was here for a reason.
Selichot starts in FOUR days. Are you ready?!

L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel ben Hadassa & Israel Ben Rivka.
From Rav Ovadya Yosef's HalachotYomit Website:

1. "Thus, halachically speaking, it is sufficient for one to wash his hands from the faucet once (as long as the water used amounts to a Revi’it which is approximately 2.7 ounces) and many have the pious custom to wash their hands three times from the faucet. Some say that as an added measure of piety, one should wash specifically using a vessel."

2. "Maran Harav Ovadia Yosef Shlit”a writes that if one feels the urge to use the facilities again during the seventy-two minute period of the previous usage of the restroom, one should not recite the “Asher Yatzar” blessing immediately upon remembering that he did not yet do so; rather, one should use the restroom once again, wash his hands, and only then recite this blessing."

CLD #359

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.
Our Parasha, Parashat Re’eh is packeddd with many ideas, concepts, halachot, and simply beautiful Torah insights. A juicy part of the Parasha is the idea behind Kosher food and what a Jew is and is not allowed to eat. One of these things is the blood of the animal that we are allowed to eat (such as Sheep, Goat, Cow, etc.). The Pasuk in Parashat Re’eh which is in Sefer Dvarim 12:23 reads as follows: "However, be strong not to eat the blood, for the blood is the soul; and you shall not eat the soul with the flesh" (Chabad.org).
This simply tells us again, not to eat animal blood. This is also something to delve into, but I want to focus on what Rashi says which is absolutely unbelievably Mechazek (strengthening). Rashi says that Rav Shimon ben Azai said that this Pasuk is coming to teach us how important and how stringent should one be regarding the act of Shomer Torah and Mitzvot. Why? If blood which is easy to keep from eating it because Man does not have an innate desire to eat from this is a stringent act against Hashem that we need to be cautious of, how much more so all the other Mitzvot that we have such a desire to keep. Meaning all the Mitzvot Lo Ta’asa (Negative Mitzvot), such as sexual desires that are smack down against the Torah, going clubbing, listening to women singing attractively that causes future complications, smelling a woman’s cologne, looking at women, eating non-Kosher, watching TV on Shabbat, speaking Lashon Hara, etc.
Rav Yaakov Ades has an unbelievably scary and influential Drasha on Shmirat HaBrit (watching ones holiness regarding the Brit/Circumsized Organ). He explains if man only knew how powerful the Eye is and what we look at, only then he will put all his effort to watch out from what he sees. We all need strength in this. Everyone of us really wants to be holy, but its really all up to us. We cannot just wait for a miracle to happen to wake us up and tell us to begin putting on tefillin and keeping Shabbat, its simply all up to you.
Today is the day WE UNITE to keep the Torah HaKdosha and follow in the way of Hashem, and with this power we will BH bring Mashiach TOGETHER. It begins with the foundation of all Bracha (blessing), which is keeping Shabbat Kodesh.

SHABBAT SHALOM!

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel ben Hadassa & Israel Ben Rivka.
From Ve’En Lamo Michshol:

1. A person who places frozen bread or pitot on the Plata (hot Shabbat plate)needs to shake off the pieces of ice on the bread/pitot before placing them on the Plata, because one is not allowed to ‘cook’ ice on Shabbat (Bishul).

2. It is found today bags of sugared water that are frozen to chew on them as ices. And many times people take these bags and before opening them, crush the ice inside them. These people should be notified that one is not allowed to do this on Shabbat Kodesh.

3. Man is obligated to read every week the entire Parasha twice and once the Parash’as Targum (Onkelus). And whoever does this has the zchut of Arichut Yamim and Shanim (long life). A Ba’al Tshuva that did Tshuva in the middle of the year does not have to complete what he missed throughout the year in regards to doing Shnai Mikrah Echad Targum (reading the Parasha with Onkelus as mentioned above).

4. A Ba’alat Tshuva that did not used to light candles of Shabbat and only began now, does not have to light more than two candles to complete what she missed throughout her life, and if she wants to atone for the candles she didn’t light all her life, she should persuade other Bnot Yisrael (ladies) to light Shabbat Candles.

CLD #358

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.
SELICHOT BEGIN THE NIGHT OF SEPTEMBER 1st, ARE YOU READY?! Does it make sense that the same week the College Semester begins, the holy holy holy Selichot begin, too? Is Hashem testing us to see what our priorities are?
Jews are like Eggs. Actually, exactly like omelets. We all have this sense of peer pressure that affects who we are and what we do. When one cracks open a couple of eggs to throw on the pan, the color of the eggs changes based on the amount and type of spices mixed in with the omelet.
If you take a teaspoon of black pepper, red pepper, za’atar, mixed chicken grill, and salt with eggs gives you a very dark looking omelet. Now lets take a small community of Jews, throw them in the middle of Kansas with no mikveh, no Bet Knesset, no Jewish School, and no Rabbi; what will be the ultimate influence that pushes the community? The Goyim around them. What will be the end of them?

We are all like Eggs. The question is: which spices do we mix ourselves with to make us who we are?
Is our foundation a Goy foundation which bodily pleasures, clubbing, sports on Sundays, tefillin five days a week instead of six, creating a holiday for Thanksgiving, giving yourself days of vacation from the Torah (Hashem Yerachem) or is our foundation a Jewish foundation, full of Simcha, Kdusha, Torah, Derech of Yirat Shamayim, modesty of our daughters, sisters and mothers that have self respect, a beautiful Shabbat table in each home, Shuls packed early in the morning for Selichot?
Sometimes we just need to take a step back and look at our lives: What have I become: a Jew or a Goy (and sadly today there is no such thing as half and half, its either I’m a Jew or I’m a Goy with a Jewish name)? I do not believe to completely separate ourselves from the Goyim, but we all need to build for ourselves a certain line of separation that shows I am a Jew and here this mixing stops.
Mussar sucks, but it’s the only thing that pushes us to grow. Selichot begins Wednesday night: The Sephardic minhag is to begin Selichot 40 days before Yom Kippur. Will you sleep in or will you show Hashem you care?

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester & Israel Ben Rivka.
From Ve’En Lamo Michshol-REPEATED BUT NECESSARY DUE TO THE PRESSING MATTER OF SELICHOT, WHICH BEGIN WEDNESDAY NIGHT:
1. Our minhag (custom) is to wake up early in the morning to say Selichot (Jewish Prayers during the month of Elul) from the first night after Rosh Chodesh Elul (WHICH BEGINS WEDNESDAY NIGHT: SEP. 1st) until the night before Yom Kippur. The reason behind this is from the story of Har Sinai that was passed down explaining that Moshe Rabbenu went up to Har Sinai to receive the Luchot HaBrit and came down with them on Yom Kippur. On Yom Kippur Hashem forgave Am Yisrael and it became a day of Simcha.

2. The time for Selichot is from Chatzot HaLayla and on, meaning the Jewish Midnight (today is 12:57am) and on because this is the time in Shamayim of Et Ratzon Tefillot are more accepted). One who is in Beit Knesset and the Tzibbur is doing Selichot before Chatzot HaLayla, is not allowed to join this Tzibbur to do Selichot!

CLD #357

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.
In Pirkei Avot (3:1) Akavya ben Mahalael says one should think (look) about three things and he should not come to sin: Know where you came from, a slumped (slouched) drop (of semen); Where you are going, a low quality place of dust and worms; And who you will be standing in front of for judgment and verdict, Before The King of all Kings The Holy One Blessed Be He.
Besides the terrifying mussar that one gets just from reading the Mishnah, let’s look deeper into the concept of tippa srucha, or a slouched drop (of semen).
WHERE DID WE ALL COME FROM? Isn’t it absolutely indescribably incredible how we all came form a microscope dot that interacted with an egg inside a female body, that kept on reproducing itself, until you came out of your mother’s womb nine months later?!
Let’s look at it deeper. The single sperm cell fertilizes an egg cell, which means its 2 cells, TWO cells, interacting to have this power to reproduce over and over again. After a while, this reproduction process ‘creates’ an eye, then another one, it creates skin, organs, hair, nerve cells, bones, bone marrow, fingers, muscles, a brain, etc. How is anyone an atheist, I Don’t Know! And I honestly don’t get it.
Baruch Hashem, He gave scientists a lot of segulot in recent history (the last 200 years) to delve deeper into the wisdoms behind this world and we simply see behind everything there is something that keeps on powering and energizing everything to work. Scientists do not have answers for this phenomenon that the cells work together to create an eye, or a heart, or even a fingernail! They simply just say “its nature.” Fine, it is. But who runs this “nature?” This code of law that has an endless and endless amount of wisdom, technology, and overall mind blowing miracles? Take all the computers in the world and bring them together with all the scientists and professors and give them all the money in the world to create A SINGLE HUMAN CELL. They will not be able to do it. So who created us?
The only answer is Hashem BaShamayim.
When was the last time the modern world GAVE YOU an ENTIRE MINUTE without your phone, your laptop, your television, your newspaper filled with junk, your microwave, your girlfriend, etc. TO THINK ABOUT HOW MERCIFUL AND LOVING HASHEM IS?
The more you think, the more difficult it is to run from the Truth that Hashem is the Master of the Universe.
Also a question to theCLD readers: Why is it true that there is so much depression (I know this simply from the gargantuan amount of advertisements for depression pills) in our society if everything is so easy in regards to technology? Everyone should be so happy! For example, what took six hours of work at the nearby pool of water for laundry takes an hour’s time with the microscopic effort of pushing a button. In general: we are all unsatisfied. Why?

From Ve’En Lamo Michshol:

1. A person who is learning Torah and in the middle of the learning he becomes thirsty and he decides to stop himself from drinking and continues to learn, this is calculated as Kapara La’Avonot (atonement for sins) for him on the Avon (sin) of speaking Dvarim Betelim (useless discussion).

2. There are those who say that the one who learns in Hirhur (meaning only with the mind/not saying it out loud) does not fulfill the Mitzvah of Limud Torah and therefore one should push himself to learn out loud using his lips. However, when one learns something that needs deep analysis and thought, he is allowed to learn in Hirhur.

Rav Darmoni told us in a Shiur in Brooklyn that he heard from Rav Shalom Arush that Hashem is sending us a message from these acts of crime that have been happening in Am Yisrael (Leiby Kletzky A’H & Rav Elazar ZT’L). What is Hashem (possibility that this might be one of the many messages that Hashem is trying to tell us) trying to tell us? That we have a serious issue at hand in Am Yisrael between Jew and Jew. What is it?
Ben Adam LeChavero. Our love for one another has decreased greatly and is decreasing greatly day after day. Our materialistic side is growing and our love for Hashem is diminishing with all the crazy events across the globe.
But what do we need to do? It’s a simple answer: Bring up the degree of respect to the person next to us. What does this mean? For example, if you have a friend (I hope we all at least have ONE true friend), make believe he/she is at the level of your Rabbi, because only then you will respect him/her at the level you NEED to respect them. If you have a Rabbi, make believe he/she is at the level of Fear of Heaven, because only then you will respect him at the level you NEED to respect the Rabbi.

B’H we should greaten love and respect towards one another, because the reason for the Destruction of Bayit Shena (Second Beit HaMikdash) was for the hatred between one another.
Smile, Cuz Hashem Loves You!

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel ben Hadassa & Israel Ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:

1. Our minhag (custom) is to wake up early in the morning to say Selichot (Jewish Prayers during the month of Elul) from the first night after Rosh Chodesh Elul (the night of Sep.

2. The time for Selichot is from Chatzot HaLayla and on, meaning the Jewish Midnight and on because this is the time in Shamayim of Prayer Acceptance. One who is in Beit Knesset and the Tzibbur is doing Selichot before Chatzot haLayla, he is not allowed to join this Tzibbur to do Selichot!
