What would you do if your father did not have a home to sleep in? What would you do if your role model would not have a home to eat in? What would you do if your spouse had nowhere to live? What would you do if your Rabbi was homeless? LEHAVDEEL ELEPH ALPHEI HAVDALOT (because of the comparison between Hashem and a Father/role model/Rabbi, etc. this phrase differentiates between Hashem and everyone else) what would you do if Hashem’s home was destroyed and burnt down?
This is not something to imagine. It happened 2000 years ago, and the remnants are still found throughout Yerushalayim. The beginning of the entrance of both armies that burnt both the Homes of Hashem (both the Batei HaMikdash 2000+ years ago) barged into the gates of Yerushalayim on Yud Zayin (17) Tamuz. Tomorrow is Yud Zayin Tamuz, which means the anniversary of the beginning of the Batei HaMikdash destruction is tomorrow.
What can you do to help a father, a role model, a Rabbi, a spouse, etc. in a time where their home was taken from them: AT LEAST show that you care.
How can you do that with the Creator of the world? By Fasting. Tomorrow is Yud Zayin B’Tamuz and the least you can do is go to Shul and tell Hashem: “I Care!”
Have a meaningful Fast.
