From VeEn Lamo Michshol:
1. One should not eat corn without checking it for bugs/insects, because there are many bugs/insects found between the corn grains or even underneath them. Even after boiling corn there are still dead insects under the grains. Therefore corn can only be eaten when one slices off its grains. This is also found in strawberries where insects/bugs are found inside and coutside the berries. Therefore, one needs to put the berries in water and clean them with liquid soap for 3 minutes. After a minimum of 3 minutes one should cut open the berries to check for insects inside and cut off the strawberry leaves.
2. Its correct and suggested for every person to glance over their food and/or drink before eating/drinking, because sometimes a fly or bug might fall into the food/drink. Whoever forces him/herself to get used to checking for bugs is saved from breaking many Halachot (jewish laws).
From HaBayit HaYehudi:
1. On Sefirat HaOmer one is allowed to move into a new home, paint, and decorate, however it is the best to completely distance oneself from hearing music with instruments from the radio/mp3/computer/etc.
2. There are people that have the custom to sew new clothing for a Chatan and/or Kalah that get married on the 34th day of the Omer (according to Spharadim this is the day when the Omer "forbiddances" are abolished) or 33rd day of the Omer (according to the Ashkenazim which is when it is abolsihed), and one should NOT be strict regarding this custom to avoid sewing for the Chatan or Kalah who get married on the day when the Omer 'forbiddances' are abolished.
