1. Lag Ba'Omer is a day of Simcha Lichvod Tana Rav Shimon Bar Yochai! Therefore we greaten Simcha on this day through having a Mishteh, making Bonfires (that symbolize the light of Torah and Kabbalah), and make Bows and Arrows! Due to Rashbi's suffering and pain of hiding in a cave for more than 12 YEARS, he reached a high level of Kdusha when Hashem gave him the zchut to write the Zohar HaKadosh (Kabbalah)! Also, Chazal say the 24,000 students of the great Rabi Akiva stopped dying from the plague on this day! This day is a Segula (spiritual force) for Parnasa!
2. Ashkenazim follow their Minhag of cutting their hair and shaving on Lag BaOmer, however, Spharadim cut their hair and shave on the 34th day of the Omer in the morning (after Shacharit Monday morning).
