KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT BECHOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHEH'HOO BEN HA'OLAM HABA

From Ve'En Lamo Michshol:
1. One should be extremely cautious with the mitzvah of Kibud Horim (Respecting One's Parents). A child is not allowed to sit in their parents' chairs, even if the chair was moved from the known spot to another spot. However, one is allowed to be lenient and sit in her/his parents' chairs when they are not in the child's presence.

2. One is not allowed to ask his/her parents to do any type of service for them, because this is not Kibud Horim. Therefore when one is gathering around a table at a meal, a child is not allowed to ask his/her parents for a specific dish, rather he/she should say "Can someone please pass the _____?" If a parent answers with the dish only now it is allowed.

SHAVUA TOV!
