1. One is not allowed to buy food for Pesach in stores that also sell non-Kosher meats, cheeses, etc. (ex. Costco's Kosher sections, Walmart, Key Food, Shop Rite) because we cannot rely on their stringency (or lack there of) on the Kashrut (supervision) of the food (exception: canned foods with Kosher symbol that can be trusted).
2. Kitniyot are allowed on Pesach (according to Rav Ovadya Yosef shlit'a), only on the condition that the grains of rice are check 3 times extra carefully (that the grains do not have any sign of wheat/barley/chametz on them) when children are not around to really focus on the grains. Our Ashkenazi brothers are strict about this and they are not allowed to change their Minhag and start eating Kitniyot and Rice.
