KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT BECHOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHEH'HOO BEN HA'OLAM HABA

1. Tomorrow Night G-d willing we will all enact the mitzvah of Bdikat Chametz (checking for chametz). The time to do the Bdika is 20 minutes after the shkiya (sunset), which falls around 7:56pm. From 7:26pm we are not allowed to have any type of meal, which includes 56 grams of cake or fruits/vegetables, rice, and the like. However, Tea or coffee is allowed to be drunk beforehand. Also after 7:26 we are not allowed to involve ourselves in any type of work, no learning Torah unless one began to learn by accident (without the knowledge of this halacha).

2. In order to make the Bdikat Chametz happen we say a bracha. After the bracha we do not speak until halfway through the bdika, when we only can speak about bdika related matters (such as asking which area of the room the bread was hidden). According to the Kabbalah, we put 10 pieces of bread that is less than 27 grams each in a wrapping (usually tin foil) and put it in places that seem hard to find. With a wax candle (with one wick) we walk around looking for the bread, checking cracks, and places where chametz is found.
